How to Grant SureRank Access to Specific User Roles (Role Manager)
Overview
SureRank Pro’s Role Manager lets a site administrator control which WordPress user roles can see and use SureRank’s SEO tools. This means an Editor or Author can manage on-page SEO for their own content without getting access to site-wide settings.
Where to Find It
SureRank → Tools → Role Manager

What You Can Control Per Role
Every WordPress role shows two switches, with two exceptions: Administrator always has full access, and Subscriber is excluded from the list.
- SureRank Settings in Editor: whether that role sees the SureRank SEO panel or meta box when editing a post or page (title, description, focus keyword, schema, etc.)
- SureRank Global Settings: whether that role can open SureRank’s main settings screens (global settings, schema, sitemap, Search Console, etc.)
Steps for the Customer
- Go to SureRank → Tools → Role Manager.
- Find the role you want to configure (for example, Editor, Author, or Shop Manager).
- Turn SureRank Settings in Editor ON if that role should edit per-post SEO fields.

- Turn SureRank Global Settings ON if that role should access site-wide SureRank settings.
- Click Save.
Have a user in that role log in and confirm they see (or don’t see) the expected screens.
How It Works
Role Manager assigns or removes two WordPress capabilities directly to the role. One gates the editor SEO panel, and the other gates the global settings screens. Administrators always keep both automatically and can’t be restricted. These same capabilities also gate SureRank’s REST API, so a role without Global Settings access is blocked from the underlying settings endpoints too, not just the screen.
Troubleshooting
Change isn’t reflected for the user
Have them log out and back in, and clear any page or object caching for wp-admin. Also confirm you edited the correct role, since a user can hold more than one role.
No “Role Manager” menu item
This is a Pro-only feature. Confirm SureRank Pro is installed, active, and licensed under SureRank → Settings → License.
Control is needed per individual user, not per role
Role Manager only works at the role level. A separate role-management plugin would be needed to create a dedicated role for that one user.
Toggles won’t save, or an error appears on Save
Capture a screenshot of any browser console error and escalate to the Support Team, since this can indicate the module isn’t initializing correctly.
