Using SureRank with Other SEO Plugins – Best Practices

SureRank is a powerful SEO and Schema optimization plugin built to help you improve your search visibility without the guesswork. While SureRank can function as a complete SEO solution, we understand that some users may already have other SEO plugins like Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, or others installed.

This guide will help you understand how to safely and effectively use SureRank alongside—or in place of—other SEO plugins, without creating conflicts or duplicate functionality.

Can I Use SureRank Alongside Other SEO Plugins?

Yes, but with caution.
While it’s technically possible to run multiple SEO plugins on a single WordPress site, it’s generally not recommended to have overlapping SEO functionalities enabled in more than one plugin.

To prevent issues like duplicate meta tags, conflicting schema markup, or multiple sitemaps being generated, you’ll want to disable overlapping features in one of the plugins.

Best Practices for Using SureRank with Other SEO Plugins

Here’s a checklist to follow if you wish to use SureRank in combination with another SEO plugin:

1. Avoid Duplicate Meta Tags

Why it matters:
Having two plugins controlling your meta titles and descriptions can confuse search engines.

What to do:
If you want SureRank to handle meta tags:

  • Disable the meta options in Yoast, Rank Math, or your current SEO plugin.
  • Or, disable the Meta options in SureRank (go to SureRank > SEO Settings > Meta Tags) if you’d prefer your existing SEO plugin to manage them.

2. Prevent Conflicting Schema Markup

Why it matters:
Multiple plugins outputting JSON-LD schema can result in redundancy or even validation errors in Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool.

What to do:
If using SureRank’s Schema:

  • Disable schema output from your existing SEO plugin (e.g., turn off “Schema” module in Rank Math or All in One SEO).
  • Use SureRank’s built-in Auto Schema Mapping for Posts, Pages, Products, or any custom post type.

3. Manage Sitemaps Efficiently

Why it matters:
Search engines prefer a single sitemap. Having multiple active sitemaps can dilute your crawl efficiency.

What to do:
SureRank includes a built-in sitemap. If enabled:

  • Go to your existing SEO plugin and disable its sitemap feature.
  • Or, if you prefer to continue using your current plugin’s sitemap, disable SureRank’s sitemap under SureRank > Advanced Settings. SureRank Sitemap Settings Guide

4. Canonical Tags: Use One Source

Why it matters:
Duplicate canonical tags can lead to crawling and indexing issues.

What to do:
Ensure only one plugin outputs canonical tags. Disable this feature in the plugin you’re not using for meta settings.

5. Google Search Console and Webmaster Tools

Only one plugin needs to verify your site with Google Search Console, Bing, etc. SureRank supports seamless integration, but avoid adding the same verification meta tag via two plugins.

6. SEO Analysis and Content Checks

You can continue using content insights from both plugins if needed, but for simplicity and accuracy, we recommend using SureRank’s Page SEO Checks, which clearly highlight:

  • Critical issues needing immediate attention
  • Warnings that suggest improvements
  • Optimized pages that meet best practices

Planning to Fully Switch to SureRank?

If you’re planning to migrate entirely to SureRank:

  • Export SEO data from your old plugin (if needed)
  • Deactivate the other SEO plugin
  • Configure SureRank’s global SEO, schema, and sitemap settings

You’ll get a streamlined, fast, and conflict-free SEO setup designed with modern best practices in mind.

Final Recommendation

For the best performance and simplicity, we recommend using only one SEO plugin at a time to manage key areas like meta tags, schema, and sitemaps.

SureRank is designed to replace the need for multiple plugins and give you everything you need in one easy-to-use solution. But if you prefer to run it alongside another SEO plugin, follow the best practices above to keep your site conflict-free and search-friendly.
