Fix Warning: Homepage Does Not Contain at Least One H2 Heading in SureRank
When running the Site SEO Analysis in SureRank, you may see this warning message: Homepage does not contain at least one H2 heading.

What This Means
Headings help structure the content of your webpage. An H2 heading is typically used as a subheading under the main title (H1 heading) to break content into meaningful sections.
If your homepage has no H2 heading, it may look unstructured to both users and search engines. This can make it harder for search engines to understand the hierarchy and main topics of your page.
Why This Warning Appears
- Your homepage only has an H1 heading but no H2 headings.
- All headings on your homepage are set to lower levels (H3, H4, etc.) instead of H2.
- The page builder or theme does not automatically include H2 headings.
How to Fix the Issue
- Review your homepage content
- Open your homepage in the WordPress editor.
- Check the heading structure (H1, H2, H3, etc.).
- Add at least one H2 heading
- Insert a Heading block.
- Set it to H2.
- Use it to introduce a key section, for example:
- “Our Services”
- “Why Choose Us”
- “About [Your Business Name]”
- Use multiple H2s if needed
- For longer homepages, use several H2 headings to organize content.
- Keep headings descriptive and keyword-rich.
- Avoid skipping heading levels
- Do not jump from H1 directly to H3 or H4.
- Maintain a logical hierarchy: H1 → H2 → H3 → H4.
- Re-run Site SEO Analysis
- After adding H2 headings, run the Site SEO Analysis again in SureRank.
- The warning should disappear.
Important Notes
- Use at least one H2 heading on your homepage.
- H2 headings help both SEO (by highlighting important topics) and readability (by breaking content into sections).
- Each H2 should describe the section clearly and include relevant keywords where possible.
